# What is Predicton?

Predicton is a prediction market available directly on Telegram, powered by **Polymarket** events and liquidity. It lets you bet on real-world events against other people and profit from your knowledge.

On Predicton, you can buy and sell **shares** that represent the possible outcomes of future events — for example: *“Will TikTok be banned in the U.S. this year?”*

Unlike traditional sportsbooks, you are **not** betting against “the house.” Your counterparty is another Predicton user. This means:

* You can sell your shares **before** the event is resolved — to lock in profits or minimize losses.
* There is no “house” to limit or ban you for winning too much.
